Storage Charlton Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Storage Charlton has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. Storage Charlton is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or in any of our supply chains.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Charlton has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. We expect the same high standards from all our employees, contractors, suppliers, and business partners. Any breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in termination of contracts or other appropriate actions. Our leadership team is responsible for promoting an organisational culture that upholds human rights and fair working practices.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Charlton provides storage services and related support activities. While our operations are primarily based in environments considered low risk for modern slavery, we recognise that risk can exist in any supply chain, particularly in areas such as facilities management, cleaning, security, construction, maintenance, and the procurement of goods, equipment, and uniforms. We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our values and can demonstrate compliance with applicable labour and human rights laws.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We require our suppliers and contractors to operate to high ethical standards, comply with all relevant legislation, and ensure that forced, bonded, or involuntary labour is not used at any stage of their operations. New suppliers are assessed for alignment with our ethical standards as part of our onboarding process. Where appropriate, suppliers are asked to confirm that they have their own policies and procedures in place to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Storage Charlton undertakes proportionate supplier audits and monitoring activities to assess the risks of modern slavery within our supply chains. These audits may include reviewing supplier policies, requesting evidence of labour standards compliance, and asking targeted questions about recruitment practices, working hours, wages, and grievance mechanisms. Where we identify areas of concern, we work collaboratively with suppliers to improve standards, or, if necessary, we may decide to discontinue the relationship.
Risk Assessment and Management
We conduct ongoing assessments of our operations and supply chains to identify sectors, regions, or activities that may present a higher risk of modern slavery. The outcome of these assessments informs our priorities for audits, supplier engagement, and staff training. We maintain clear internal responsibilities for managing modern slavery risks and integrate these considerations into our wider risk management and procurement processes.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Storage Charlton encourages all employees, workers in our supply chain, and other stakeholders to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels, including line managers and designated senior managers. Reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly. We do not tolerate any form of retaliation against individuals who report concerns in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We provide relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and facilities operations, with training and guidance on identifying indicators of modern slavery and how to report concerns. Awareness materials are used to reinforce our expectations and to ensure that modern slavery risks are understood across the business.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Storage Charlton is committed to continuous improvement in our approach to preventing modern slavery. We regularly review our policies, risk assessments, supplier due diligence processes, and training materials to ensure they remain effective and reflect evolving best practice. This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed, updated, and approved by the leadership team on an annual basis, or more frequently if required, to ensure it accurately reflects our activities and progress.
This Statement has been approved by the leadership team of Storage Charlton and constitutes our Modern Slavery Statement for the current financial year.
